Zonta is an international service organization whose mission is to "advance the status of women worldwide". With 33,000 members in 1200 clubs in 96 countries we touch every corner of the world. Formed in Buffalo, New York in 1919, the name "Zonta" is derived from the Sioux Indian word meaning "honest and trustworthy".
Members of Zonta raise money and volunteer their time to support projects in their home communities and abroad to help eradicate violence against women, improve access to healthcare and education, provide scholarships for women in business, public affairs, aerospace and other fields.
What does the Zonta Club of Porterville do?
The Zonta Club of Porterville was chartered in 1948 and has been an extremely active service club in our community and Zonta International for 60 years!

* Major donor to Zonta International Service projects
* Major donor to local high school AVID programs and local scholarship programs
* Contributions totaling over $60,000 to local and international projects over
the past four years alone.
